WHY I'M REWRITING THE DRENALINE SURF BOOKS
When I plotted Chasing Forever Down in 2011, I plotted it with Haley being 21. Vin was 26. The characters were older, and the storyline played out differently. But I wanted to query agents and "new adult" wasn't a thing back then. So I aged the characters down, made it Young Adult, and changed up the storyline. I didn't intend for it to become a series. Ultimately, I self-published and the world expanded. Because I left it YA, a lot of things didn't feel realistic. I couldn't take a lot of liberties I wanted to because of the characters ages. Because I want to write more in this world, like a second generation, I need to fix the issues with ages, some particular characters, and a few storylines. (And no, making it new adult does not mean making it sexy.) |
WHAT WILL BE NEW IN THE SERIES
Quite a few things are changing! Such as...

WHEN THE REWRITE WILL BEGIN
I'm hoping to start the revamp in 2024 (but it could be much later). As much as I'd love to get started sooner, I have deadlines and obligations throughout the rest of 2023 and into 2024. Right now, I'm making notes and deciding what I want to change and what I want to keep. I'm referring to this entire rewrite/relaunch as "Project Sunrise" because it's a 'new day' for this beloved series. It's a 'rising' of sorts for this series, to a brand new level. I won't be pulling these books until the relaunch begins. Once the books go up for pre-order, the old books will be removed/unpublished. They will cease to exist, in a sense, so you have this whole year (at least) to save up and purchase the e-books or paperbacks, if you're wanting this YA edition. |
HOW DOES THIS WORK IF...
A lot of you have asked how this works if you've already bought the books before. The old books will NOT change. As long as you have the e-book downloaded, you'll always have it. I won't be uploading over the old books. They'll be a brand new product. The old books will no longer be available to buy, but your copies won't disappear. I know a lot of people supported this series from day 1, and money is tight for most of us. So I will be offering review copies (because republishing means I'll lose all my reviews). If you review book 1 and want a review copy of book 2, send me a link to your review, and I'll send the book, and so forth. That way, you can read "for free." I don't want anyone to feel cheated financially because this is not a cash grab, by any means. |
